Alaska bound!

Last year, Shaun and I bought plane tickets to go see his sister Kelli and brother-in-law Josh in Anchorage over Labor Day. However, I was hired last minute for the school year and we realized that I couldn't leave for two weeks that early in the school year. We bumped the tickets back and finally cashed them in at the end of June.

Our flight out of Atlanta was delayed due to bad weather, so unfortunately that meant we were a no-go for our connection in Seattle. And there were no other flights until 6am the next morning. They would only offer a hotel room at discount because it was weather-related, plus it was only for like four hours, so we decided to hunker down and enjoy our night in the SeaTac!

My new killer whale friend

Headed down to our terminal to sleep, an airport employee asks us when our flight is, then tells us after the train starts that we won't be allowed to sleep in that terminal, that we need to go back to where we got on. Hmm, okay. So we took a fun little ride around the airport... by ourselves!

We didn't sleep much because the airport was so cold. But see that hoodie draped over my legs? That's how sweet and selfless my wonderful husband is!

The view coming in to Anchorage, Alaska the next morning!!

Shaun and Kelli in front of the beautiful Phifer abode!

Going for a hike on Twin Peaks, Shaun's favorite hike of the trip!

Josh and Kelli are experts at this Alaskan outdoors thing. Look at all that performance gear! ;)

These caterpillar crawly things were all over these hikes. They literally fell out of the sky (trees) and landed on you. We were all covered with at least four or five of these inch-long bugs at a time!

The view from the top --- INCREDIBLE!
(If you click the picture, you can see the glacier in the middle better.)

This is the part that makes the 7 miles uphill all worth it!

On the way back down

We finished that hike around 9:30 at night. But don't worry, in the summer, Alaska's crazy like that. For example, this picture of Shaun and I after leaving dinner one night.
Believe it or not, it was taken at 11:30pm.
